So long since high school days and yet we can still remember it well. I hope everyone has a great time at the reunion. I'm not able to attend due to other commitments. |

Hi there - I am thrilled to be coming back to GPW for our reunion. I have been living in Austin, TX for the past 27 yrs. and I love Austin and being a, "Texan," but Michigan is where it all started. I have one son, Bernardo, who is absolutely terrific. He's now 30 yrs. old and married to a wonderful gal. They are both at Penn State working as entomologists. I am also blessed to have raised 3 step children who I love very much. I got my Master's in social work at 35 and have had the honor of working with people with HIV/AIDS and those at risk for over 20 yrs. For the last 4 yrs. I've been working for the State of Texas as a program coordinator for all the state funded HIV and Substance Abuse programs and with our border substance abuse prevention programs. I love my job and also manage to do consulting work on the side as a trainer and facilitator. Over the years I've been able to travel a bit and was able to go back to Argentina a few times--this is where I spent my early childhood. I have also had the opportunity to train community health workers in Mozambique, Africa, Puerto Rico and Mexico on HIV/AIDS, and I lived and worked in downtown San Francisco for a couple of years after my son was grown and left home. I still remain close to my, "Swedish Sister,"Eva Bergstrand, who was our exchange student in my junior year at GPN. She and I have visited each other a number of times over the years. A big thanks to the reunion committee who worked so hard to find us and develop a great reunion event for all of us. |

I graduated from Michigan State University in 1975 with a BA in Design. After working as a facilities manager for National Bank of Detroit, I spent the next 20 years working for Steelcase, Inc. in the Worldwide Alliance Division handling Ford Motor Company on a global basis. As a co-leader, I coordinated a domestic and international team, worked strategically managing relationships, and negotiated the worldwide agreement. In 1997, I married my second husband Richard Platt after being divorced for fourteen years. With Rick came two stepchildren, which has grown today to include six grandchildren. I retired in 1998 and devoted a great deal of time to philanthropic endeavors, today we travel as much as possible. When not traveling, we spend much of our time on the golf course.

It has been a long time for sure. After graduation I atended Lawrence Tech and obtained a BSEE. I worked at Pointe Electronics as a bench tech and the Shop Manager. Who remembers Pointe? I was fortunate to be offerred a job at then Detroit Edison, now DTE Energy, in the Telecommunications Dept. I spent 36.5 years in Telecom rising to the Principal Engineer responsible for a vast array of voice systems and fiber optic network. It was a good job from which I have now retired.I met my wife Donna in 1983 and we were married for about 31 years. We have one child a daughter, who is studying in the vet sciences. She was a gazelle to my plodding plowhorse. She was a very caring and loving person. She loved her animals and to that end we have four dogs. Too many now but they are a part of the family. Donna took ill and passed from us in December 2014. It has been a bit of a struggle for myself and our daughter as we put a new normal into practice. Always wanting to be in a rural envirnoment I have ended up outside Richmond, MI and with retirement I am thinking about one more move a little further up into Michigan. We shall see what the good Lord has in mind moving forward. In browsing through the list I saw so many names that brought back memories of that time. I hope all are doing well and look forward to seeing you in Sept. |

BS and MS Mathematics, Michigan State
Looking forward to seeing my GPN classmates at our 50th reunion! Following GPN, I attended Michigan State University on a four-year Evans Scholarship earned as a caddie at Lochmoor Country Club. My BS and MS degrees were in Mathematics. I retired on May 1, 2020 as COV-19 was rearing its head. My professional career always touched the insurance industry in some way, ranging from pricing and product development, to consulting, process reengineering, and sales. Protecting and advising families was always very fulfilling. Barb and I have been married for 41 years and we have three sons. Barb is a BSN and provides nursing care part time to the retired Jesuits at Marquette University. Our oldest son, Vic Jr., lives in Minneapolis and is a professional musician, see http://www.minnesotapiano.com/. Vic Jr. and our youngest son, Aaron, both graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Aaron is progressing on the long journey of exams to becoming a full Actuary. My middle son Doug is mentally ill and lives nearby in Waukesha, WI, home city of Les Paul. Doug enjoys hiking and outdoor activities with the family. My favorite hobby is home brewing and have been at it now for 20 years. Living in Wisconsin, brewing beer becomes a second nature, as well as consuming it (moderately, of course). In retrospect, I really would have enjoyed opening my own brewpub and sharing my wares! Someday, perhaps now that I'm tired. We’ll see. God bless you all throughout the years to come. -Vic |
