Hello to all classmates from the incomparable GPN class of 1971!  If you haven't already made your plans and purchased your tickets for our 45th reunion, please do so now!  An incredibly talented group of your classmates has been hard at work putting together what we all believe will be (another) incredibly good time for you...so don't delay!

I have been residing in the Minneapolis area now for over 30 years, and enjoy this area immensely.  My wife and I live just a few minutes west of downtown, amongst a wonderful, natural area of woodlands and wetlands... through which storied "Minnehaha Creek" flows.  Got my degree from Michigan State in 1975, and went headlong into the business world...initially sales and marketing with a worldwide travel services company... my "first" career.

Later, I made a transition into the financial services industry... my "second" career.  Spent over 20 years there, becoming a ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and retirement plan advisor for major plan providers, eventually ending up as a Series 7 Registered Rep for Ameriprise Financial Services (formerly known as American Express Financial) at their downtown Mpls. HQ.  Ultimately, despite the prestige, I became tired of staring at a computer all day, confined within a cubicle, and attending endless boring meetings.  So, when an opportunity to make my "third" career change came along, I ventured off into the great unknown (not really) and hired out on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.  BNSF is the country's second largest rail system, and was recently purchased lock, stock and barrel by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Co.... his single largest acquisition ever for BH.

So now I work for Uncle Warren.  And I'm actually having a blast.  You could say the job comes with a lot of bells and whistles...(!).  Having been "into" trains since I was a kid, I now get to "play" with the real thing.  I work at their big Minneapolis-area freight terminal, operating 9000-h.p. locomotive sets via remote control (!).  I also "conduct" mile-long freight trains over our northern transcontinental main line which links Chicago with Seattle/Portland/Tacoma.  Yep, I ride in the cab along with the engineer, through the countryside at speeds up to 60 mph.  Not your typical day at the office, for sure.  At other times, I am qualified to act as the "traffic controller" for the entire Minneapolis yard complex, which stretches nearly five miles from end-to-end and is 70 tracks wide at its largest point.  In this position I direct train traffic in and out of the yard at both ends, plus line up routes for trains, engines, and switching moves within the yard... all via computer/mouse, video displays, remote video cameras, and radio communications.  Its a gas.

So yeah, I guess I'm one of those "different drummer" types you hear about.  Restless soul, or something.  In fact, playing those good ol' drums has also been a kick for me throughout all the years....trust me...you haven't lived until you've really 'rocked a room' behind a killer band...and I've had the joy of doing that now, many times over.

Other interests of mine include photography (both still and video), travel, cooking, sipping fine wines by the fire, and listening to music on my primo home sound system.

After 45 years, I can't wait to learn what YOU, and all our other classmates, have been up to.  The 40th reunion at the War Memorial was very memorable, and I have a hunch that 9/10/16 will also be a night to remember. I see many names on the registration of classmates that were not at the 40th, so -- again -- am greatly looking forward to seeing many frieneds again for the first time in many moons.  I'm sure a great time will be had by all.  So please... don't sit on the fence!  Circle your calendar, make your plans, and get your tickets NOW!

Thanks a lot, and... see you at the Yacht Club this fall!

coni.barlow@wayne.edu Dansville Mi US Retired Computer Programmer greenandwhiteacres.com Married Donald Barlow 7 Wayne State University
Whew, where to start...after all, it's been 40 years!

I didn't have the bucks to follow most of you away to school...so I stayed at home and graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Wayne State, followed by a secondary teaching certificate in Mathematics.  But those teenagers in student teaching scared me so much I went back to the WSU Computing Center for a job and stayed 30 years, retiring last May.

I was married 11 years to someone who turned out to be one of my very best friends and I've been married 16 years now to Don who became my family, and shared with me his 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren.

My passion is scuba diving, amassing over 200 dives in dozens of countries in the last 11 years.  Don does not share my passion...however, several years ago,  we embarked on an adventure of a lifetime...building our own home made out of straw (very eco-friendly).  Check out our website and come visit for a look-see!

We've got 5 acres near East Lansing (and Don's alma mater) where we grow our own food with the excess going to the local food bank.  We enjoy our Spartan football and basketball tickets and our new shelter dog Blizzard.

I too have enjoyed reading about all my friends from the past and I thank the committee for setting up this wonderful website.

mooremmcm@msn.com Fort Collins CO US Accountant Married 4 Jeff Moore Still hoping!! Western Michigan
After graduation, I was off to Western Michigan University to study math and business. I will never forget the kidding I got about working for my MRS degree. And I guess they were right. I married and had three terrific kids and became a stay at home mom. But eventually I became a happy divorcee, and I discovered that I could not only get a job after not working for eleven years, but found that I LOVED working. Who would have guessed?

So I dug all that business education out of the mothballs and started working in accounting departments. So much had changed since I had last worked outside the home……..like computers!! But I learned and grew and advanced. And along the way, I met my husband, Jeff (He says I’m a “Cougar”). This wonderful man found his place in our family and was a wonderful father to my three kids. But he wanted more…one of his own. So just shy of my 44th birthday, our daughter Jayce was born. And being a new mother again, while others my age were becoming empty nesters and grandparents, was wonderful!  They say she keeps me young, but sometimes I wonder!

But this time, I kept working. I’m living proof that whether you are a working mom or a stay at home mom, your kids can turn out all right. Carrie, my oldest is married, living in Chicago and is a Vice President for the Bank of Montreal. David is a Dealer Support Specialist for Stihl Power Tools near Olympia, Washington, traveling all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. Robert graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He is a walking sports encyclopedia, so if anyone owns a sports team and needs someone, let me know (the market is a little slow for recent college grads, as you all know). And then there is Jayce. She’s 14 now, getting ready to head to high school in the fall. She’s a 5’9” volleyball player and we have the fun of traveling all over the state, and sometimes the country, watching her play.

My husband, Jeff is a project manager for Garney Construction. He is working on his third 5-year contract with the City of Fort Collins, doing water and wastewater projects. And me? I’m now the assistant controller for Haynes Mechanical Systems in Denver, an  HVAC company that specializes in Preventative Maintenance Contracts for commercial buildings. And I love it. We moved from Denver to Fort Collins just over six years ago, so I work three days a week from home, and twice a week I do the long commute to the south side of Denver to work in the office. It’s your dream job, the best of both worlds.

And it appears from the length of this, I am not only the “Most Talkative Girl” of our senior class, it extends to my writing as well. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
